Water

Water

There have been several interventions to assist Namutumba people obtain this precious commodity. As early as 1998 a local spring was upgraded from a dirty waterhole to a more hygienic, protected spring using funds raised by JKHS pupils.

The work was carried out as part of a programme of water improvement projects by the charity, The Busoga Trust which is based in Jinja.

In 1999 Kisiki College benefitted from a roof catchment water scheme, partly for using water in its new science laboratory but also for use by the boarding houses. This was financed by JKHS and local Ross businesses and constructed again by The Busoga Trust.

In 2004 Ross Rotary assisted the District Medical Unit with the erection of a roof catchment water scheme for their women’s and children’s ward.

In 2005-6 Ross Lions provided funds for a new borehole, commissioned by The Busoga Trust,  in Namutumba itself and this much-needed facility is still heavily in use today.
